Beneficial Ownership Act amendment in force

A package of secondary legislation amending the Island’s beneficial ownership framework came into operation, following approval by Tynwald. The Beneficial Ownership Act 2017 (Amendment) Order 2026 changes the registrable threshold for a "registrable beneficial owner" from "more than 25%" to "25% or more" — meaning a person holding exactly 25% may now fall within scope where they previously did not. The Beneficial Ownership Information Regulations 2026 set out new steps for entities with no registrable beneficial owner. Nominated officers must adopt the new process by 15 September 2026 at the latest.
